Hi Helen – I’m the one with the photo of the book. I forwarded it to the HB office, they said thanks & nothing happened. Can I forward you a copy of my sister’s pic. of it (not the greatest but very readable) in exchange for your photo so I don’t have to hunt down one of my own. I was born in England a bit before Prince Charles, and my mom used this for my birth, my grandfather trained at the same time & at the next hospital to Dr. G.Dick Read. I took the book to Ontario for my mom’s funeral if I needed to do a “speech” how she was up on everything & taught us to volunteer etc., but left it behind by mistake. I bought it more than 10 years ago on ebay from England. (I’m in Canada).

Ah bless you Ellie! It is of course really flattering that so many of my old clients (who forever remain part of the Birth & Baby family) recommend me to their friends and it means I get to work with some brilliant people at an amazing point in their lives. The blog-post was prompted by the number of people who have contacted me very late in their pregnancy recently. I do try to fit people in where I can but I do have my own HypnoBabies to tuck in at bedtime too. It’s that old work:life balance conundrum!

I remember when I was pregnant with my second child, and wondering the same thing, whether I would have enough love left to give to the second one. Someone said to me that it isn’t an allocation of love that you have available to give to each person you love, it’s more like a big pool of love that you and everyone you care about swims in together, so it’s the same love being shared and there’s plenty for everyone! That made sense to me, and took away the worry.

I know what you mean about the different feelings you can have for each child though, but for me, I don’t feel it’s a different kind of love, I feel like the love is the same, but it is sprinkled with other feelings and emotions in varying amounts that affects how I feel about each one.
